Welcoming Owlin to FinTech Connect!

Owlin is a Dutch technology company which uses advanced analytics to turn global news flows into actionable intelligence. In this world where the overall size of information is continuously increasing, it becomes more important to find relevant news, and more difficult not to miss out on any opportunities, risks or trends.

How did the idea for the business originate?

Owlin was founded from recognizing a challenge in the financial market and technical (data driven) insights to a potential solution. Finetuned over the years by its clients Owlin, has grown within 4 years to a global level with clients and end-users in the key financial hubs all around the world.

Do you have customers yet? If not, how far into your business lifecycle are you?

Our clients include Fitch Ratings, Deutsche Bank, ING Group, KPMG, PGGM, CBRE, Prologis and Philips among others. Clients use the Owlin Dashboards for portfolio (risk) monitoring, reputation (ESG) management, asset management, researching industry trends, or they integrate our data feed with their end user platform through our API.

How have you funded your growth to date?

Owlin has been self-funded from day 1. Having grown profitably for the last 4 years, Owlin is now expanding internationally with opening offices in New York in Q1 2019 and Singapore afterwards.

What would a successful year ahead look like for you?

Owlin plans to have a successful sales team on the ground in New York. This team will serve our current clients (Fitch, KPMG, ING, amongst other) and expand our footprint in the US further.

Outside of your own business, which start up do you admire the most and why?
In the realm of quantum computing, one of the companies at its forefront, is Rigetti Computing. Founded in 2013 by Chad Rigetti, the start-up claims it is “the only full-stack quantum computing company in the world”. This means they do in-house design and fabrication of quantum chips and tightly integrate those with the software that is built on top.
