How did the idea for the business originate?
Rubean had been developing highly secure, bespoke, comms applications for the European banking sector, for nearly 20 years, before deciding to re-deploy some of its IT security expertise in the pursuit of class-leading mobile payment solutions for BOTH merchants and customers. Rubean’s solutions will solve the technology disparity between iOS and Android and the need for additional “peripheral” devices.
Do you have customers yet? If not, how far into your
business lifecycle are you?
We have closed a development and go-to-market partnership with leading POS terminal manufacturer CCV and are currently focusing on implementing a contactless payment acceptance solution based on commercial smartphones, in line with incoming PCI standard.
How have you funded your growth to date?
The growth has been funded with capital
increase.
What would a successful 2018 look like for you?
We envisage 2018 to be the “Year of the
Pilot”.
We have already signed-up to several important technology partnerships with the likes of CCV and Trustonic, and we have several pilots scheduled to start in coming months – each of which will potentially lead to full-scale roll-outs.
Outside
of your own business, which start up do you admire the most and why?
Apple, with their agile, customer centric
way of developing and successfully introducing new features that have changed
our lives.
