Interview: James Nguyen, Co-Founder and CEO, Quantropi

03/10/2022

Quantropi is one of the leading sponsors at Quantum.Tech Boston 2022. We caught up with James Nguyen, Co-Founder and CEO at Quantropi, to get his thoughts on Y2Q, the quantum landscape and its impact on cybersecurity for enterprises, and what he's looking forward to at Quantum.Tech Boston.

How far do you think we are off Y2Q?

By most accounts, we’re 5-10 years before we must really worry about brute force quantum attacks. But we face threats today as you know.

Today, even the US government and NIST concede that adversaries and nation states are very likely harvesting and storing data, just waiting for the quantum computer power to crack it in the future – or near future in the case of nation states. Already, these ‘bad actors’ could be storing encrypted nuclear codes, stealth bomber plans, or financial data in their cloud, attempting to crack. These ‘threats’ could crash markets, start wars, and cost governments and companies billions in damages.

Quantropi is here to address this threat head-on with new, innovative quantum-secure encryption products, effective on today’s Internet.

How are you providing Quantum-Secure platforms for enterprises?

We’ve developed a SaaS platform called QiSpace™ that enables enterprises to harden and secure their data and communications, and to protect all their customers, forever, from cyber and quantum threats.

QiSpace™ provides enterprises with access to all 3 cryptographic prerequisites: quantum-secure asymmetric encryption (MASQ™), quantum-secure symmetric encryption (QEEP™), and the world’s first Digital QKD – strong random key generation and quantum-secure distribution to harden systems and networks (SEQUR™). All available via APIs and our SDK.

Right now, we’re making QiSpace™ and all its solutions FREE for 60 days so enterprises can crack it open and play in our sandbox. Quantum-securing applications, devices, systems, or entire networks has never been easier. Anyone interested in the free trial can sign up here.

Are you able to give us a bit more information on QEEP™?

QEEP™ is Quantropi’s quantum-secure symmetric encryption product. Symmetric encryption algorithms use a shared key between parties to secure their communications, and are used in virtually all secure digital communications over today’s internet.

QEEP™ uses Quantropi patented technology leveraging quantum principles to provide data encryption that not only meets today’s security requirements, but remains safe against future quantum computing attacks. It not only offers future-proof encryption, its small code footprint and low computing requirements make it the perfect solution to address today’s cybersecurity limitations in areas such as resource constrained IoT devices.

And it is up to 18x faster than today’s AES-256, providing a significant advantage where low latency is a requirement such as Connected and Autonomous Vehicles.

What makes Quantropi’s approach to quantum cybersecurity unique?

Our patented, quantum-secure encryption products are powered by quantum mechanics expressed as linear algebra - simple, elegant math that has been around for centuries.

And they don’t have the shortfalls of the two recognized methods of quantum encryption – QKD and PQC. QKD barely functions outside of a lab and would require a quantum Internet to be effective – something that won’t be available for multi-decades in the future. PQC is based on complex math puzzles that quantum computers will ultimately solve as they become stronger and faster – a game of cat and mouse so to speak.

All Quantropi products are available today through our SaaS QiSpace™ platform.

You are kindly one of our lead sponsors at Quantum.Tech in Boston this June; what are you looking forward to at the conference?

Engaging with enterprises, integrators, device manufactures, app developers, interested in protecting their data and their customers from all cyber and quantum threats. Please look for our booth at the event.
