John Sawyer

John Sawyer is the Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Quantum Alliance (MQA), which supports the growth of a vibrant and inclusive regional quantum ecosystem built on the foundation of one of the world’s largest concentration of quantum expertise and capabilities. The MQA enables a wide range of collaborations between its 48 (and growing) members with quantum expertise and programs from government, industry, academia and the non-profit sector to accelerate scientific discovery, develop and transition technologies, and prepare the quantum workforce. Dr. Sawyer also serves as the Director of Strategic Research Initiatives for the University of Maryland, where he builds and manages major programs and partnerships that enhance the impact and visibility of the university.
