Thomas Plumb-Reyes

Policy Advisor, Office of the Special Envoy for Critical and Emerging Technology US State Department

Thomas Plumb-Reyes is a physicist by training and was the 2022-23 American Physical Society (APS) Science & Technology Policy Fellow (STPF) in Congress working on policy related to science and technology, energy, environment, and agriculture.

Tom is currently an American Association for the Advancement of Science STPF in S/TECH working on quantum and AI policy.

He is also a member the American Physical Society’s Physics Policy Committee, where he advises the President and Board of APS on science policy issues including the resources available to the physics community and the balanced use of these resources for the nation's scientific and technological needs.

He earned a B.S. in physics from UCLA and a Ph.D. in applied physics from Harvard University.
