Quantum computing is advancing rapidly, and while its full potential is still years away, its impact on cybersecurity can already be felt. Within the next 5 to 15 years, quantum computers will be able to break widely used cryptographic algorithms, putting the digital foundations of our economies at risk.

Becoming quantum safe is a complex, multi-year journey that must begin well before the threat fully materialises. In this keynote, Alejandro R.-P. Montblanch, PhD Cantab., Quantum Communications and Networking Lead at HSBC, will outline the practical first steps organisations should undertake as they embark on this migration. He will then exemplify them by explaining recent efforts at HSBC regarding the building of a cryptographic inventory, relevant quantum-safe technologies, and strategy.
