Ports are by nature a hyperconnected ecosystem, with many actors digitally connected through global trade lanes but also the many physical interconnected networks. The Dutch ports play a major role in global trade, processing large volumes of European import and export flows. In current times of geopolitical uncertainty, the resilience of Dutch ports is of strategic importance and the quantum age provides specific challenges to tackle. We investigated whether Quantum Key Distribution can provide a solution to some of the security challenges and we will share the insights from our project.
