Chief Scientist Quantum Algorithms and Innovation Quantinuum
Harry Buhrman

Harry Buhrman is Chief Scientist for Quantum Algorithms & Innovation at Quantinuum and a professor at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), specializing in algorithms, complexity theory, and quantum computing. He leads the Quantum Computing Group at CWI and is director of QuSoft, a research center for quantum software he founded in 2015. Elected to the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2020, Buhrman built one of the first quantum computing groups globally and the first in the Netherlands. His research focuses on quantum algorithms, complexity, and applications of quantum computing in science and industry. He co-developed quantum communication complexity, showing that some tasks can be solved exponentially more efficiently with quantum resources. He also helped establish methods to understand the limitations of quantum computers and frameworks for developing quantum algorithms.
