Smith Optical is a new spin-out from the University of Southampton commercialising a radically new approach to AI Smart Glasses and Augmented Reality. Based on different physics from existing companies such as SNAP, Meta or Magicleap, the new wavemixing approach allows for 100% optical transparency, daylight brightness and zero eye-glow. The new wavemixing display tech will enable deployment of Smart Glasses as the interface for B2C AI - offering contextual AI to consumers and ultimately becoming a leading wearable compute, and perhaps even displacing the SmartPhone.
