Acting Director of the Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML) of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); Fellow of the Joint Quantum Institute (JQI) and the Joint Center for Quantum Information in Computer Science (QuICS); Leads the NIST Quantum Information Program; Co-Chaiors the Quantum Information Science Subcommittee of the National Science and Technology Council; Physicist and author of over 100 scientific publications in ultra-cold atomic collisions, Bose-Einstein condensation, many-body physics, and quantum information science. Leader, policy maker, and member of the Senior Management Team of NIST. Speaker at numerous national and international conferences including lay audiences. Actively engaged in the international effort to redefine the international system of units or metric system. Acting Director of a laboratory with over 600 permanent staff scientists and engineers and more than 800 additional students, postdoctoral candidates, and affiliates.
