Kurt Stokbro

CEO Sparrow Quantum

Dr. Kurt Stokbro is an internationally recognized researcher, tech investor, and serial entrepreneur. He is the CEO and early investor of Sparrow Quantum, a photonic quantum technology spin-out from the Niels Bohr Institute, founded by Prof. Peter Lodahl. Sparrow Quantum stands as a pioneer in light-matter interfaces, leading the way in single-photon technology by offering deterministic sources with record purity, indistinguishability, and efficiency.     In addition to his role at Sparrow, Kurt is engaged in multiple deep-tech start-ups as an investor, board member, and advisor. He founded Atomistix A/S in 2003 and QuantumWise A/S in 2008, both software companies developing quantum chemistry simulation tools (QuantumATK) for semiconductor devices. These tools are now industry standards used by most of the leading semiconductor companies. QuantumWise was successfully acquired by Synopsys in 2017.        Earlier in his career, Kurt held a professorship at Copenhagen University and positions at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where he coordinated a number of EU and Danish-funded R&D projects. Kurt's scholarly contributions amount to a publication record of over 100 papers and review articles in esteemed international journals, which has accumulated over 13,000 citations and an h-index of 44. The scheme for ab initio calculations of quantum transport, developed by Kurt and co-workers, has become the de facto standard for electron transport calculations and laid the foundation for QuantumWise and Atomistix. The corresponding research article was recognized as one of the fifty most important papers in the 50-year history of Physical Review B.
