Dr. Ahmad Sheikh serves as a Distinguished Research Fellow and the Global Head of Molecular Profiling and Drug Delivery at AbbVie. He spearheads a global team integral to every stage of drug discovery and development. During lead optimization and candidate selection, MPDD scientists collaboratively design and advance candidates with high success potential by leveraging expertise in computational chemistry, biopharmaceutics, drug delivery, and automation. From candidate selection to clinical proof of concept and product launch, the team operates in cross-functional groups to pinpoint the optimal solid drug form and establish structure-property-performance correlations, thus ensuring robust processes for commercial manufacturing. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, Ahmad has been pivotal in developing and commercializing multiple blockbuster medicines in oncology, immunology, neurosciences, and virology, including Venclexta, Mavyret, Rinvoq, and Vyalev. He has published over 50 scientific papers, contributed to five book chapters, and holds more than 20 patents. Ahmad earned his B.Eng. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from University College London, UK.
