Phil Smith

Technology Integration Leader, Q-NEXT Argonne National Laboratory

Phil leads technology integration for Q-NEXT, the Argonne-led DOE National Quantum Information Science Research Center. His responsibilities include management of partnerships, center ecosystem efforts, and support of center operations. Phil also leads Argonne’s efforts to advance external partnerships and commercialization for a broad range of quantum information science and microelectronics technologies. Phil’s experience includes development and implementation of technology and business strategy for Fortune 500 companies, technology startups, universities, and national laboratories. His work spans research and development planning, building high-impact teams, and securing resources to catalyze high-impact technology programs. Phil has experience across multiple verticals including advanced materials and manufacturing, chemicals, energy, and health technology. Phil holds a Ph.D. in Materials Physics from The Ohio State University, and an M.S. in Business Analytics from The Georgia Institute of Technology.
