Samuel Stein

Samuel Stein is a researcher at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) working at the intersection of quantum computing and high-performance computing (HPC). His work focuses on leveraging large-scale supercomputing infrastructure to accelerate quantum research, bridging algorithm development, simulation, and systems-level integration. He develops HPC-driven methodologies that support quantum algorithm prototyping, scalable simulation of quantum systems, and the development and validation of fault-tolerant architectures and error-correction strategies. His research centers on large-scale modeling of quantum systems, reinforcement learning for quantum control and optimization, and rigorous performance benchmarking of quantum algorithms. By aligning the challenges in quantum information science with HPC platforms, he works towards mapping theoretical quantum advantage into practical scalable systems.
