Quantum Readiness Lead Citi

Sarah McCarthy is a leading expert in quantum-safe cryptography and champion of the Quantum Readiness Program at Citi. Her work focuses on developing robust and effective solutions to secure financial systems against the emerging threats posed by quantum computing. Prior to her role at Citi, Sarah served as a Cryptographic Strategist at evolutionQ, where she played a pivotal role in developing quantum-safe network solutions and advocating for proactive preparation for the quantum era. Her career also includes a Research Fellow position at the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) at the University of Waterloo, following her PhD from Queen’s University Belfast. This strong academic foundation underpins her deep expertise, allowing her to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical, deployable quantum-safe solutions. She remains an active affiliate of IQC. A highly sought-after speaker, Sarah is known for her clear and engaging presentations. She has shared her insights at numerous events worldwide, been featured on podcasts by Hewlett Packard Enterprises and Entrust, and is a key PC member of the annual ETSI/IQC Quantum-Safe Cryptography Conference.
