Zac Ward

Zac Ward PhD, is a Distinguished Staff Scientist and the Section Head of Nanomaterials Synthesis and Nanofabrication in the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences (CNMS) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). He is an experimental condensed matter physicist whose research has focused on the design, synthesis, and characterization of new materials hosting electronic, magnetic, and optical phenomena relevant to emerging quantum and microelectronic applications. He joined ORNL in 2009 as a Eugene P. Wigner Fellow and was awarded the Department of Energy's Early Career Award in 2017. Zac is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and currently sits on the Physics Section Steering Committee of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
