Andrea Willis

Dr. Andrea Willis is senior vice president and chief medical officer for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, which employs more than 6,500 people and serves over 3.3 million members. She leads total health and pharmacy management, with responsibility for clinical quality, member care, medical management, clinical risk oversight, and provider collaboration. Willis previously served as medical director for the BlueCross CHOICES Long Term Services and Supports program, as well as for BlueCare Tennessee and Cover Tennessee. Before joining BlueCross, she was director of the CoverKids program and led development of Tennessee's federally approved State Children's Health Insurance Program. She also served as deputy commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Health. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and holds a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins and a Doctor of Medicine from Georgetown University. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Willis has received national recognition from Modern Healthcare, Becker's Hospital Review, Johns Hopkins, and the Chattanooga Times Free Press. She has testified before the U.S. Senate and held leadership roles with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Nashville Health Care Council, and the American Heart Association.
