National Menopause Foundation

Website: https://nationalmenopausefoundation.org/

Before launching the Foundation in 2019, we asked women to share their opinions about and experiences with menopause. We found that, in general, the majority of women feel neutral about menopause. Ninety-five percent said they had experienced some symptom of menopause, with night sweats (64%) and hot flashes (58%) being the most common. Unfortunately, 64 percent said the symptoms they experienced had interfered with their quality of life. Sixty percent said they were worried about aging. Another 60 percent said they’d be interested in an online, peer-to-peer community where they could discuss menopause with other women. Approximately 1.3 million women enter menopause each year in the U.S. And it is estimated that with women’s current average life expectancy, we will spend one-third of our lives postmenopausal. Those figures are a call to action that we need to change the status quo, and pay more attention to women in this stage of life. To make this happen, we need major changes in our healthcare system, our workplaces and our mindsets. The National Menopause Foundation will be the catalyst for this change.

The Global Healthy Living Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for people with chronic illnesses (such as arthritis, osteoporosis, migraine, psoriasis, asthma, alopecia, inflammatory bowel disease, and cardiovascular disease) by advocating for improved access to health care at the community, state, and federal levels, and amplifying education and awareness efforts within its social media framework. In the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, we created our Patient Support Program, which continues to educate and support people living with chronic disease, answering their questions about how to keep safe and providing the latest guidance as the pandemic continues.
