Adam Balen MB, BS, MD, DSc, FRCOG is Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, UK. He has led a large multidisciplinary reproductive medicine service for 30 years. Amongst numerous national and international roles over the last 30 years, Adam is a past Chair of the British Fertility Society (BFS) and has had numerous roles for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). Adam co-founded the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (BritSPAG) and created the Fertility Education Initiative to improve education in schools on reproductive health. He is a member of the WHO Guideline Development Group on Infertility. He is a recognised global expert in PCOS, has been a member of all the international consensus groups on its management and been honoured with a number of national and international prizes. Adam has authored >300 papers (H index 84, >48,000 citations) and 16 books, including Infertility in Practice (5th edition 2022) and The Fertility Book - Your definitive guide to achieving a healthy pregnancy (2021), co-authored with his wife Grace Dugdale for people trying to conceive. Adam and Grace co-founded Meio Health a comprehensive reproductive health platform for the whole life course.
