Dr. Ndidiamaka Amutah-Onukagha is a nationally recognized public health scholar, advocate, and leader in maternal health equity. She is the Julia A. Okoro Professor of Black Maternal Health at Tufts University School of Medicine and Founder and Director of the Center for Maternal Health Advancement. Her research focuses on addressing racial and ethnic inequities in maternal health outcomes, with a particular emphasis on Black women and birthing people. Dr. Amutah-Onukagha has led research, informed state and federal maternal health policy, and built innovative partnerships that bridge academia, healthcare systems, and communities. She has served as an advisor to policymakers, healthcare organizations, and national maternal health initiatives working to improve outcomes across the lifespan. Through research, advocacy, and education, Dr. Amutah-Onukagha is advancing solutions that ensure all women have the opportunity to thrive before, during, and beyond pregnancy.
