With over two decades of experience across global financial markets, Shiv Sehgal is a widely respected leader in India’s capital markets ecosystem. He currently provides strategic leadership to one of India’s largest equity franchises, overseeing Institutional Equities (sales, research, and trading) and Asset Services, and playing a pivotal role in strengthening India’s market access for global investors. Shiv’s career spans senior leadership roles across India, Singapore, Australia, and broader pan-Asia markets, with deep expertise in emerging market funds, long-short hedge fund strategies, and institutional client engagement. Prior to joining Nuvama, Shiv held senior leadership positions at Goldman Sachs India, where he led the Institutional Sales Trading and Equity Capital Markets business, managed key franchise relationships, and served on the Goldman Sachs India Board, contributing to firmwide governance and strategic committees. Earlier in his career, he was CEO of Artha Capital, Singapore, and worked closely with global hedge funds in Sydney and Singapore. Beyond his executive responsibilities, Shiv is a prominent voice in the financial market’s community. He is a regular speaker at leading India and global financial markets conferences, including global hedge fund summits, and frequently features in The Economic Times, ET Now, Mint, and Business Standard. He also serves as a jury member for the AIWMI 40 Under 40 Awards, recognising excellence in alternative investments. In recognition of his outstanding professional achievement and contribution to nation building, Shiv Sehgal has been conferred the Indian Achievers’ Award for Business Leadership one of India’s most coveted honours recognising leadership excellence since 2000. Shiv is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from the CFA Institute, USA, and holds a master’s degree in Banking and Finance from Griffith University, Brisbane.
